What To Pack For a Winter Sun Getaway

When the temperature drops and the nights begin to close in, many of us yearn for some warmth and sunshine. There is no better way of getting through the long, cold winter months, then booking yourself a little winter sun getaway. The problem is thinking about what to pack - when you are wrapped up in big coats, scarves, and boots, it can be difficult to imagine what you need for tropical temperatures. Read on to find out more as we have it covered in this handy packing list to your sunny destination!

Bathing Suit

No doubt, you will make the most of the sunshine by lazing around next to the pool or lying back on the beach with a cocktail or three, so a bathing suit is one of the first things you should be throwing into your suitcase. At this time of year, you will probably find it hard to find many choices in stores stocked with warm gear, so your best bet is to look online.

Cover-Ups

For when you need to hop off your sun lounger to go and grab another drink or bite to eat, a cover-up is a great option. They are easy to throw over top of your bikini and with some smart styling, can even be used as evening wear if packing space is at a premium. Just add a pair of sparkly heels and some chunky bangles, and off you go!

Maxi dresses

Maxi dresses are an incredibly versatile addition to your holiday suitcase. You can roll them up so they take up very little room and can be worn on top of a bikini with a pair of flip flops throughout the day, and dressed up for the night. The flowing shape of them means they suit pretty much every body type, and they can help keep you cool and comfortable even when the mercury is rising.

Sunglasses

Not only do sunglasses look great, but they protect your eyes from the harmful rays of the sun. Do not be tempted to skimp and buy cheap ones, as these can be more damaging to your eyes than not wearing any at all. Instead, go for the best pair that you can afford. Classic aviators and wayfarers tend to suit most face shapes and add style to any outfit!

Hat

Again, like sunglasses, a hat is so much more than a cute fashion accessory. It protects your head, neck, and face from sunburn and sunstroke and stops your hair drying out into one big frizzy mess. Opt for a wide-brimmed style for maximum coverage and maximum style!

Sun Lotion

Sun lotion isn't fashionable. It isn't stylish. But if you only pack one thing for your break, make sure it is suncream. Peeling, sore, red skin is never a good look for anyone and increases your risk of skin cancer in the future. Your skin will thank you now and later.

Aloe Vera Gel

Just in case you do miss a spot and end up with a bit of redness or sunburn, aloe vera gel will be your best friend. It will help soothe and heal the burn faster and allow you to be more comfortable.

A Good Book

While on vacation, being stress free and getting away from technology is key so you can rest and rejuvenate. There’s nothing like reading a good book while lounging by the pool or soaking up some rays on the beach while the hours pass by without having a worry in mind.

A Camera

What better way to capture your favorite memories than with a camera whether it’s a point and shoot, a DSLR, a cheap disposable one or even a polaroid. Make it fun so you don’t have the urge to keep checking your phone or worrying about it getting wet!
